From the South Wales Voice newspaper, 30th November 1940 :-

KILLED IN RAID
The sad news has been received of the death in an Air Raid of Mr. Islwyn Jones youngest son of the late Mr. John Jones, waterman and the late Mrs. Jones. Mr. Jones who was 30 years of age and had been released from the Army for fire-fighting duties, as he had been a member of the local A.F.S. He was due to return to the Pontardawe district as an auxiliary fireman. Sympathy is extended to the widow, child and family in their sorrow. The funeral, will take place at 3pm on Sunday, burial being at Alltygrug cemetery. Gentlemen only.

YSTALYFERA MILITARY FUNERAL
Military honours were accorded Fireman Islwyn Jones son of the late Mr. John Jones (waterman) and the late Mrs. Jones, Commercial Street, who was interred at Alltygrug Cemetery on Sunday. A report of his death during an air raid on a Midland town appeared in last weeks issue.
