YSTALYFERA NOTES
We understand that Private Tom Davies of Godre’rgraig, of whom nothing has been heard since last October, is still missing and despite all the efforts of his relatives they have failed to trace his whereabouts. It is not known whether he is a prisoner or has been killed. If he is in captivity he would of course be able to communicate with his people. Yet, on the other hand, no intimation of his death has been received. He has had a son in the firing line since the commencement of the war.
Private Tom Davies was in his forties, and thus in the position to have sons also serving overseas. The Brecon and Radnor Express from time to time recorded their news. Below are two articles from September 1915, the first from 2nd September and the second from 23rd September. It is not certain whether Driver Davies in the first article is the same, or different, from Private Aneurin Davies in the second :-
COMING HOME
Driver DAVIES (son of the late Private Tom Davies, 12 Burchell Row Godre’rgraig) has written home an interesting letter to his mother, dealing with his experiences out in France, where he went at the commencement of the war. Private Davies hopes to be home for a few days shortly
IN HOSPITAL
Private Aneurin Davies R F A (son of the late Private Tom Davies Burchell Row Godre’rgraig), who was wounded at the front, has been in hospital for some time but is now convalescent and waiting his turn to come home for a short furlough.
