The Labour Voice newspaper in 1924 recorded the details of the death of David George's mother, Anne George, in so doing providing a wealth of family information.
From the Labour Voice 27th December 1924:-
MRS ANNE GEORGE
Another link with the Ystalyfera of other days has been severed by the death on Thursday evening last of Mrs Anne George wife of Mr William George Pantteg. Mrs. George, who was 76 years of age, had suffered severely but patiently for some years from an internal complaint. She was born at Ystradgynlais but had lived most of her time at Ystalyfera; for the last forty six years she had lived at the same spot, a few paces from Pantteg Chapel. Mrs George had been married twice, her first husband being Mr Lewis Williams, the youngest brother of Mr. David Williams Corsyrhellg Godre’rgraig and of the late Mr John Asaph Williams, choir conductor Godre’rgraig. Mr Williams died 46 years ago and was of a decided musical taste like the rest of the family. Perhaps the best known of the children of the deceased’s first marriage is Mr. John Asaph Williams Godre’rgraig, check weigher at Gleision Colliery, who, it is regrettable to say, is indisposed, and has been for some time. The funeral took place at Pantteg churchyard on Tuesday, the Rev Ben Davies officiating.
