From the Labour Voice newspaper, 16th October 1915 :-

By the bye, we are glad to be informed that the people of Godre'rgraig have set a good example to many villages in their treatment of their war heroes. A strong committee has been appointed to raise a fund to welcome any soldier who returns from the front wounded. Last Thursday the first welcome was held when Private Boyd, wounded in the Dardanelles, was publicly presented with a watch, cigarette case, a Bible and a purse of gold on the occasion of his impending return to his regiment.

From the Labour Voice newspaper, 23rd March 1918 :-

A sad occurrence took place at Tarreni Terrace on Saturday last, Mr. Tom Boyd, an old discharged soldier was found dead in his chair. The funeral, which was a military one, took place on Thursday at the Holy Trinity Church.
